LOS ANGELES -- The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Chris Martin from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the active roster for Martin, the Rockies have optioned right-handed pitcher Chad Bettis to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Additionally, to make room on the 40-man roster for Martin, the Rockies have transferred left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson (fractured left index finger) from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. Martin (#47) will be available for the Rockies vs. Dodgers game at Dodger Stadium tonight (8:10 p.m. MDT).

Martin, 27, will be making his Major League debut with his first appearance. The 6-foot-7 right-hander was acquired by Colorado, along with left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales, from Boston in exchange for infielder Jonathan Herrera on December 18, 2013. Martin began 2014 at Triple-A, where he went 0-1 with 3 saves, an 8.22 ERA (7.2 ip, 7 er), 3 walks and 11 strikeouts in eight games as the Sky Sox closer. Six of Martin's eight outings were scoreless appearances, including each of his previous two outings prior to his call up. Martin signed with Boston as a non-drafted free agent on March 31, 2011.

In 11 games with the Rockies this season, he is 0-1 with a 7.15 ERA (11.1 ip, 9 er), 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. In 27 career Major League games, including eight starts, Bettis is 1-4 with a 5.95 ERA (56.0 ip, 37 er), 23 walks and 37 strikeouts. Anderson, 26, was originally placed on the DL on April 14th, retroactive to April 13th. He is now eligible to be reinstated from the disabled list on June 12th. Anderson made three starts for Colorado this season going 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA (15.0 ip, 6 er). On April 13, he left the game in the fourth inning against San Francisco after injuring his finger during his at-bat in the top of the inning.
