Nationals farmhand Carlos Maldonado went 2-for-2 with a homer and four RBIs and Blue Jays prospect Darin Mastroianni chipped in three hits, a pair of RBIs and two runs scored for Zulia. Big league veteran Hector Gimenez hit a three-run homer, former Nationals farmhand Ramon Castro added a two-run shot and ex-Met Edgardo Alfonzo slugged a solo blast as the Tigres clinched a spot in the Championship Series.
