Royals, Mets stay course with Game 5 lineups

Hoping to turn the tide and hold off the Royals in Game 5 of the World Series tonight (8 p.m. ET game time on FOX) at Citi Field, Mets manager Terry Collins is sticking with nearly the same lineup he used in Games 3 and 4, the only difference being right-hander Matt Harvey starting on the mound and batting ninth. Kansas City is also going with essentially the same lineup from Game 4 as it looks to clinch its first World Series title since 1985. Starter Edinson Volquez is the only change, batting ninth.

New York managed three runs on six hits in the 5-3 loss in Game 4 on Saturday, putting the club down 3-1 in the Fall Classic. The Mets have trailed a postseason series 3-1 twice before: The 1999 National League Championship Series, which they lost in six games to the Braves, and the 2000 World Series, which they lost in five games to the Yankees.

Shortstop Alcides Escobar, hitting .375 this postseason, once again leads off for the Royals, while Salvador Perez is hitting sixth and enters Game 5 batting .412 in the Fall Classic. Volquez, who started Game 1 on Monday and later found out his father died, takes the mound after mourning his dad in the Dominican Republic.
