Northwest Arkansas dropped the series opener at home. Blue Valley Northwest grad Jason Adam struck out seven over seven innings, yielding four runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks. Matt Fields hit his team-leading sixth homer in the second. Roman Hernandez doubled twice while Rey Navarro finished 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Wilmington's four-game winning streak was snapped as Lynchburg plated a pair in the ninth. Kyle Zimmer, the first-round pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, held the Hillcats to a run on two hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings. Zimmer fanned six, bringing his season total to 40 in 29 innings. Cheslor Cuthbert led Wilmington with three hits, including his second homer over his last four games.
