Royals trade Pena to Orioles; do not tender contracts to Calixte and Holland

The Kansas City Royals announced this evening that they have sent catcher Francisco Pena to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash considerations. Pena, 26, was designated for assignment earlier today when the club acquired catcher Tony Cruz from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Additionally, the Royals announced that they will not tender Major League contracts to infielder Orlando Calixte and right-handed pitcher Greg Holland for 2016, making them free agents.
Following tonight's transactions, Kansas City's Major League reserve list is at 38 players.
