Safeco field hosts exclusive Macklemore event

Fans can help celebrate release of new album from Seattle hip hop duo

Seattle Mariners fans are invited to help celebrate the release of the new album from Seattle hip-hop music duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at a special night at Safeco Field on Friday, August 31.

The Heist, the first full-length album by the duo will be released on October 9. Fans can get a preview with a special ticket price, a cap, designed by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and a meet and greet with the artists. The black cap features the artists’ names and mini Kingdomes, a throw-back to the early days of the Mariners franchise when the team played its home games there. Selections from the new album will be featured in the ballpark during the game.

Tickets for this special event are available exclusively online at www.mariners.com/macklemore. Tickets are $15 for View Reserved seats (normally $20). This offer is limited to the first 500 fans. Autographs will be limited to the first 100 fans to claim special vouchers at Section 320 (beginning at 5:10pm). Autographs will be limited to one per person.

Macklemore, who grew up in Seattle and graduated from Evergreen State College in Olympia, came to widespread attention of sports fans when he released a tribute to the late Dave Niehaus called My Oh My in December 2010. He and producer Ryan Lewis performed the song at Safeco Field on Opening Night 2011. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have performed at Bumbershoot, Sasquatch Music Festival and have toured North America and the U.K.
