St. Louis' Molina disciplined

Catcher Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for making contact with Umpire Mike Everitt in the bottom of the third inning of Sunday afternoon's game against the San Francisco Giants at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Joe Garagiola, Jr., Senior Vice President of Standards & Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Molina's suspension had been scheduled to be served tonight, when the Cardinals are to host the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, he has elected to file an appeal. Thus, the suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
