Statement from Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria

"As part of our new structure in baseball operations, I am proud to announce two important internal promotions.

Michael Hill, who has been with us for 11 seasons, has accepted the position of President of Baseball Operations. Michael is a bilingual graudate of Harvard Univeirsty who came into professional baseball 20 years ago as a draftee of the Texas Rangers. He has ascended quickly through the ranks, thankfully with us for more than a decade. Michael is an amazing guy who has earned this well-deserved recognition.

Dan Jennings, who has also been with us for 12 seasons, joined the Marlins as Vice President of Player Personnel and was named Assistant GM in 2007, has been promoted to General Manager. He also came into the league as a player, having signed with the Yankees in 1984 and transitioned into scouting and player development a few years later. I have tremendous respect for his baseball mind and know he'll make a great addition to Michael's team.

We will be making no further changes to our senior executive team.

Lastly, I want to say a few words about reports from the past several weeks. It has always been our policy not to communicate publicly about people's careers until final decisions have been reached. For that reason, I wanted to wait until the end of the season to make these announcements. I hope this statement clarifies the situation and allows us to get back to the important work of improving our team for the 2014 season."
