Tenth annual Colorado Rockies Hispanic Adult Leadership Award

Pregame fiesta with ceremonies honoring youth and adult leaders on Saturday, Sept. 22

DENVER -- During the month of September, the Colorado Rockies are honoring several individuals in celebration of Hispanic Awareness Month at Coors Field.  These efforts will culminate on Saturday, September 22nd with musical entertainment followed by pregame on field ceremonies, where the team will honor the winner of the Colorado Rockies Hispanic Adult Leadership Award and the youth winners of the Youth Essay Contest.  This season marks the tenth year that the Colorado Rockies organization has honored exceptional adult and youth leaders in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Rockies will honor five leaders for the positive work they have done in the Hispanic community.  Each of the finalists listed below will be honored with an individual pregame ceremony this month, and then all five finalists will be honored as a group prior to the game on Saturday, September 22nd, when the overall winner will be announced.  An adjoining ceremony will honor the winners of the annual Youth Essay Contest in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and on the topic of “Heroes,” using baseball legend Roberto Clemente as an inspirational example. All student participants received tickets to September games and the winners receive Rockies merchandise and tickets to the September 22nd game.

The following five adult leadership finalists will be recognized throughout the month of September (see attached for more details about each individual or visit coloradorockies.com/Hispanic):

The winner’s name will be placed on signage displayed inside Gate D (home plate entrance) at Coors Field, and the winner will also receive season tickets for the Rockies 2013 season along with other charitable benefits.
