Texas Rangers announce 2015 Opening Day roster

Oakland, California-The Texas Rangers made the following roster moves today to get to the opening day limit of 25 players:

--Purchased the contract of RHP Anthony Bass and RHP Keone Kela from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League.

--Designated LHP Sam Freeman for assignment. The Rangers have 10 days to trade, release, or outright Freeman to the minor leagues.

--Placed four players on the 15-day disabled list:

                 LHP Matt Harrison retroactive to March 27 as he recovers from spinal fusion surgery

                RHP Tanner Scheppers retroactive to March 29 with right ankle sprain

                RHP Lisalverto Bonilla retroactive to March 31 with right elbow impingement

                RHP Kyuji Fujikawa retroactive to April 1 with right groin strain

--Placed RHP Yu Darvish on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from ligament reconstruction surgery on his right elbow on March 17.

 

With today's moves, the Rangers have 40 players on its major league roster.

OUTFIELDERS (5): Shin-Soo Choo, Delino DeShields, Leonys Martin, Ryan Rua, Jake Smolinski.

15-DAY DL (4): RHP Lisalverto Bonilla, RHP Kyuji Fujikawa, LHP Matt Harrison, RHP Tanner Scheppers.

60-DAY DL (4): RHP Yu Darvish, LHP Martin Perez, INF Jurickson Profar, OF Antoan Richardson.
