Hamilton hit a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rangers a 5-4 victory over the Angels. It was his first walk-off home run.

Hamilton set a record with 28 home runs in the first round of the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium. He ended up losing to Justin Morneau. Hamilton hit 35 in all that night, including 13 in a row and seven that were measured at 500 feet or greater.
