Inaugural Kid's Event a great success

On Aug. 21, 2006, the David Wright Foundation held its inaugural Kids Event at Bowlmor Lanes in New York City for the benefit of kids from the PBA 9/11 Widows and Children's Fund and Variety the Children's Charity.

David took the lead in hosting the fun night of bowling, prizes and food. Also in attendance were figure skater Sarah Hughes, Mets General Manager Omar Minaya, actress Rosie Perez, actor Mike Myers and crowd favorite Mr. Met.

Carolina from the Z100 Morning Zoo and DJ Spinbad kept everyone entertained with their non-stop music and great trivia games. The Z100 Party Patrol was also on hand to add to the festivity and help hand out the prizes which included an Xbox 360, digital cameras, an MP3 player and much more.

Undoubtedly, the event was a tremendous success. Smiles could be seen throughout the facility from beginning to end.

"It's great to have a chance to spend time on an off day with all these great kids," said Wright, who himself could be seen having a great time bowling strikes on the lanes.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were the limitless supply of drinks provided by VitaminWater, the special tower of cupcakes provided by Eleni's as well as the balloon sculptures and decorations provided by Unique Balloons.

As the children left the Lanes, they were each handed two baseball tickets donated by the New York Mets and a gift bag filled with all sorts of great goodies.Special thanks to all those that donated to the event and made it a great event for some very special kids: American Girl, Armitron, Big Apple Circus, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Chelsea Piers, Chevrolet, Dorney Park, Gund, Jockey, Nickelodeon Magazine, Nikko America, Pokemon, Rye Playland, Topps, Wollman Skating Rink, Wilson, World of Disney New York, WWE and our sports donors: the New York Mets, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Liberty, and the New York Red Bulls.

Also thanks to Mark Levine for photography and, of course, the VitaminWater team for their continuous support.

Thanks again to everyone who was able to share this special evening with us. We look forward to your future support of our charitable efforts!
