Rangers to play in San Antonio in next spring

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers are going to play at least one and possibly two exhibition games in San Antonio next spring. A press conference is scheduled for Friday to announce which team will play the Rangers at the Alamodome during the middle of Spring Training.

The San Antonio Express-News reported the exhibition games are being put together by Reid Ryan, the CEO of the Triple-A Round Rock Express and the son of Rangers president Nolan Ryan. The Rangers have not announced their Spring Training schedule but their first game is expected to be Feb. 23 against the Royals.

This would be the first time the Rangers have ever played in San Antonio. Last year, they played two games in the middle of Spring Training against the Cubs in Las Vegas. The Rangers open the season on April 2 against the Astros in Houston. The games in San Antonio are not expected to be against the Astros.
