Tigers legend Morris joining TV broadcasts
Fox Sports Detroit to have three-man team in booth for six games
DETROIT -- Jack Morris is jumping into the Tigers' playoff chase, at least from the broadcast booth. The former Detroit great is joining Fox Sports Detroit as an analyst for a half-dozen Tigers games, starting with Monday's division clash against the Royals, as the network tries out a three-man broadcast team.
Morris will join the longtime broadcasting team of play-by-play man Mario Impemba and analyst Rod Allen.
"All of us at Fox Sports Detroit are excited to welcome Jack to our Tigers broadcasting team for the games this week," FSD senior vice president and general manager Greg Hammaren said in a statement. "His unique perspective as a former pitcher will serve Tigers fans well."
Morris, part of the Tigers' World Series championship team in 1984, got his broadcasting start doing Tigers games alongside Frank Beckmann on WKBD in 2003 before moving to Twins broadcasts. He was an analyst on Blue Jays broadcasts last year before returning to Minnesota as a pregame and postgame analyst on Fox Sports North.
Morris' national work includes Saturday broadcasts on Fox Sports 1 and recent postseasons as an analyst for MLB.com.
