Frazier earns Heart and Hustle Award

CINCINNATI -- All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier was named Tuesday as the Reds' winner of the 2015 Heart and Hustle Award. The award, which is given by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, "honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game."

Frazier was pleased when learning of the honor, which is the only one in MLB voted on by former players.

"Especially from former players in the game, with a lot of energy and emotion, I'm touched to be honest with you," Frazier said. "It's something I try to do every day -- play as hard as I can and bring as much heart and hustle for every game and game situation."

An overall winner will be announced in November at the 16th Annual Legends for Youth Dinner in New York City. According to the MLBPAA, the dinner is the primary fundraiser for the series of free Legends for Youth baseball clinics, which impact more than 15,000 children each year and allow them the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from players who have left a lasting impact on the game of baseball.

"It means the world to me," Frazier said. "It's a very prestigious award to get. Hopefully there are more of them to come."
