Plouffe out of lineup with illness

DETROIT -- Several Twins players are dealing with illness at an inopportune time, including third baseman Trevor Plouffe, who was held out of the lineup against the Tigers on Sunday.

With Plouffe out, Eduardo Nunez made his first start at third since Sept. 9, which was also the last time Plouffe wasn't in the starting lineup.

"We've got a little bit of a bug going around in our clubhouse," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "We have a lot of guys fighting differing things. A little bit of temperature, body-aching type of things. Trevor is one of those guys. Last night, it was a little tough on him physically. I don't really want to take him out, but I think it's the right thing."

Left fielder Eddie Rosario also wasn't in the lineup, but Molitor said he's not sick, but just getting the day off with lefty Randy Wolf on the mound for Detroit. With Rosario out, Aaron Hicks moved over to left field and Byron Buxton made his first start in center field since the second game of a doubleheader against the Angels on Sept. 19.
