Twins name Paul Molitor to Major League coaching staff

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have added Paul Molitor to their major league coaching staff. Molitor will serve as a coach under Manager Ron Gardenhire and will oversee base running, bunting, infield instruction and positioning, plus assist with in-game strategy from the dugout for the 2014 season.

Molitor's last major league coaching job was in 2004, when he served as the Seattle Mariners hitting coach. He also served as a major league coach with the Twins under Manager Tom Kelly in 2000 and 2001. In 2003 he worked with the Twins as a minor league base running and infield coordinator, a role he was named to again in 2005 and held through the 2013 season. 

Molitor, 57, was a 1974 graduate of Cretin High School in St. Paul and attended the University of Minnesota. He played 21 major league seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays and Twins. The Minnesota native is one of just six players in Major League Baseball history to record at least 3,000 hits and 500 stolen bases in a career. The seven-time All-Star was the 1993 World Series MVP with the Blue Jays and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.
