Twins rained out against Royals on Friday

De Vries, Hendriks are scheduled to pitch in Saturday's doubleheader

KANSAS CITY -- Friday night's series opener between the Twins and Royals was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday at Kauffman Stadium.

The second game will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. However, in case of a quick opener, the second game would not start before the regular-scheduled time of 6:10 p.m. CT.

Rain is in the forecast for Saturday, too.

The Twins will keep their starting rotation in the same order, with Cole De Vries -- Friday's scheduled starter -- pitching the first game on Saturday and Liam Hendriks working the nightcap. The Royals will stay as originally scheduled with Will Smith and Luke Hochevar pitching Games 1 and 2, respectively.

It's the second time this season the teams will play a doubleheader. The first was on June 30, when the Twins took both games against the Royals at Target Field. That doubleheader stemmed from a rainout of a game on April 28.

Friday marked the first rainout of the season at Kauffman Stadium.
