Two days left to bid on auction items

NEW YORK -- Baseball fans have just two days remaining to bid on some memorable and unique player-related experiences currently up for bid on a fundraising auction taking place on CharityBuzz.com. Bidding for the current lot of available auction packages ends Thursday, June 21, between 12:05 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET. Proceeds from the auction benefit initiatives of the Players Trust, the 501(c)(3) charitable organization created and administered by the players themselves.

Up for bid is a wide array of packages that should appeal to the diverse interests of all baseball fans. For example, those immersed in the growing social media relationships between players and fans will want to bid on Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher's Twitter package. The highest bidder of this truly unique package will be followed by Nick on Twitter for 30 days, and "Swish" also guarantees to re-Tweet at least one of your Tweets (restrictions apply) to his MLB-leading 1.5 million followers.

It's no secret that most athletes play golf. With that in mind, Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano, one of baseball's top golfers, will play a round of golf with one lucky bidder and a guest at legendary Torrey Pines in LaJolla, Calif.

Other player-related packages include an exclusive meet-and-greet with Marlins shortstop Jose Reyes when he returns to New York's Citi Field this August, and Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino will take a lucky bidder and a guest to lunch at the MLB Fan Cave in New York City.

Baseball fans and non-fans alike are bidding to obtain the rare chance to dine at the famed Italian restaurant Rao's in upper East Harlem in New York City. How hard is it to get into Rao's? So hard that one of its two owners, Frank Pellegrino, is known as "Frankie No" for all the times he turns down requests to eat at his restaurant. Rao's doesn't take reservations or walk-ins. There are only two ways to eat there. You either have a regular table, given to you by one of its two owners, or know someone willing to give up his table for a worthy cause -- in this case the Players Trust.
