Two No. 99s Square off for a Baseball First

History is made.

When Astros left-hander Rudy Owens was called up to the show, his jersey number was probably the last thing on his mind. Little did Owens know, it would get his name etched in the history books. Owens' jersey number is 99, and the first batter of the game, Seattle's James Jones, wears the same number. It was the first time that two number 99s have ever faced each other in a Major League game.

It's a strange piece of history, but a piece of history nonetheless.
