Update on Rangers pitcher Martin Perez

Surprise, Arizona-Texas Rangers lefthander Martin Perez was knocked out of Sunday's game versus the Seattle Mariners in the 6th inning when he was struck above the left wrist by a line drive off the bat of second baseman Brad Miller. Perez was taken for X-rays at Del Webb Medical Center in Surprise. The X-rays revealed a fracture of the ulna bone in his left forearm.  Perez is not expected to resume a throwing program for approximately four weeks while the fracture heals. In the interim, he will be able to maintain left shoulder and cardiovascular conditioning program.

Perez was in his second inning of relief in the Rangers' 7-6 loss to Seattle at Surprise Stadium. His line for the game: 1.0+ IP, 1 H, 1 R-ER, 2 BB, 0 SO, 18 pitches. It was his second appearance of the spring.
