Chen continues O's string of strong pitching
Southpaw allows two runs over six innings to keep Baltimore in finale
ST. PETERSBURG -- Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen continued to keep the O's rotation rolling on Sunday afternoon, pitching six innings in the 4-2 series win over the Rays to give Baltimore its sixth consecutive quality start.
"My last outing, I felt pretty great," Chen said through his interpreter. "All I wanted to do was keep the same feeling and not do anything extra and that's what I did today."
Chen, pitching on three extra days' rest, held Tampa Bay to two runs on seven hits and two walks and struck out four. The outing marked the seventh straight of at least six innings from an Orioles starter as Baltimore's rotation looks to be coming around.
"At the beginning of the year, we had some bumpy starts, but everyone is doing better and better," Chen said of a rotation that has pitched to a 1.91 ERA over the past six games. "Sometimes, I look at other guys games like Ubaldo [Jimenez] and [Chris Tillman], I look at their games and think about mine."
Chen didn't receive the win and is still looking for his first "W" despite pitching to a 2.83 ERA in the first five games of the season.
