What to watch for in today's games

Wednesday features a full day of baseball, with a number of big-name pitchers trying to steal the show. Here are five things to watch for:

Sale's historic streak: CWS @ MIN, 1:10 p.m. ET

White Sox ace Chris Sale will try to build on history when he takes on the Twins. With his stellar last start, the lefty became the third pitcher in the modern era to post five straight games with 12 or more strikeouts. He's allowed just three runs in that span.

Nova returns: PHI @ NYY, 1:05 p.m. ET

After a 14-month layoff to recover from Tommy John surgery, right-hander Ivan Nova returns to the hill for the Yankees on Wednesday against Philadelphia for his first meeting with the Phillies. Left-hander Cole Hamels is coming off a slightly shorter break; his Friday start was pushed back because of a right hamstring strain.

Duffy's back: KC @ SEA, 10:10 p.m. ET

The Royals welcome left-hander Danny Duffy back to the starting rotation on Wednesday, when he makes his first start since May 16. He'll be up against Seattle's Roenis Elias, who tied a career high with 10 strikeouts in his last outing.

Hometown showdown: LAD @ CHC, 8:05 p.m. ET

Chicago native Mike Bolsinger gets his first look at the Cubs on Wednesday, and at historic Wrigley Field, no less. He's winless in four road starts this year. Kyle Hendricks, who gave up a career-high seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits in his last start, will also be looking for his first win at Wrigley in six attempts this year.

More history for Colon: NYM @ MIL, 8:10 p.m. ET

It seems a new feat is accomplished every time Bartolo Colon takes the mound; he now owns the Mets record for recording a decision in 26 consecutive starts, dating back to last year. Naturally, he's 2-0 in two career starts at Miller Park.
