White Sox acquire Jacob Turner off waivers from Chicago Cubs

Turner, 24, spent most of the 2015 season on the Cubs disabled list with a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow. He made two starts with Class AA Tennessee in June during a rehabilitation assignment, going 1-1 with a 2.00 ERA (2 ER/9.0 IP).
 
Turner, 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, has gone 11-25 with a 4.97 ERA (165 ER/298.2 IP) and 192 strikeouts in 61 games (51 starts) over parts of four major-league seasons with Detroit (2011-12), Miami (2013-14) and the Cubs (2014).
 
He made his major-league debut with Detroit on July 30, 2011 vs. the Angels, becoming the youngest Tigers pitcher to debut since Bruce Robbins in 1979. Turner was traded to Miami on July 23, 2012 as part of a five-player deal that included pitcher Anibal Sanchez. He made 20 starts with the Marlins in 2013, going 3-8 with a 3.74 ERA (49 ER/118.0 IP) and one complete game.
 
Turner was traded to the Cubs on August 8, 2014 in exchange for pitchers Jose Arias and Tyler Bremer. He appeared in eight games (six starts) with the Cubs in 2014, going 2-4 with a 6.49 ERA (25 ER/34.2 IP).
 
He is 22-20 with a 3.25 ERA (157 ER/434.1 IP) and 337 strikeouts in 77 games (76 starts) over six minor-league seasons after being selected by Detroit in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2009 draft out of Westminster Christian Academy in St. Charles, Mo.
 
With the move, the White Sox 40-man roster increases to 38.
