White Sox Announce 2012 Player Development Staff

The Chicago White Sox have announced their player development staff for the 2012 season.

Joel Skinner, who spent last season as Oakland's bench coach, will take over managerial duties at Class AAA Charlotte in 2012. Skinner spent nine seasons on Cleveland's major-league staff as a third base coach (2001-05, '07-09), interim manager (2002) and bench coach (2006). He also appeared in 564 games over his nine-year major-league career with the White Sox (1983-86), Yankees (1986-88) and Indians (1989-91).

Brandon Moore returns to the White Sox organization as the hitting coach at Class AA Birmingham. Moore spent the last seven seasons in Pittsburgh's farm system as hitting coach at Class A Lynchburg (2005), Class AA Altoona (2006-08, '11) and Advanced Rookie State College (2009-10). He served as hitting coach at Advanced Rookie Bristol (2001-02) and Class A Kannapolis (2003-04) in his first stint with the Sox.

Among the additional changes on the player development staff, Tim Laker will serve as the organization's minor-league hitting instructor, Andy Tomberlin will join Skinner as the hitting coach with the Knights, and Bobby Thigpen will begin his first season as pitching coach with the Barons.

Buddy Bell, who spent 18 seasons in the major leagues as a player and nine as a manager, returns for his fourth full season as the Sox director of player development.
