Flowers' foul ball confirmed by umpires' review

CHICAGO -- A crew chief review was executed during the sixth inning of the White Sox's 3-1 win over the Royals on Monday night at U.S. Cellular Field, checking on Tyler Flowers' long fly ball down the left field line that was called foul.

Flowers connected on an 0-1 pitch from Jeremy Guthrie -- with Conor Gillaspie on third and Alejandro De Aza on second -- and drove the ball deep down the left-field line. It originally looked as if it would stay fair for his sixth home run, but the ball curved around the foul pole and was ruled foul by third-base umpire Mike Muchlinski.

That call was confirmed by video replay, and Flowers struck out looking to end the inning, with the White Sox holding a 3-1 lead.
