Escogido 2, Gigantes 0
Scoreless through eight, Escogido was able to score twice in the ninth inning and come away with the victory. Pirates outfielder Starling Marte went 2-for-3 with a double, lifting his average to .429 with Escogido. Roberto Novoa got his first win of the season, while Trevor Reckling took his first loss. Aguilas 3, Estrellas 1 (10 innings)
Back-to-back doubles by Diego Goris and Keury De La Cruz proved to be the difference in this extra-innings affair. Aguilas' Chris Cody allowed an unearned run on five hits in 6 1/3 innings in the start. Evan MacLane also got a no-decision for Estrellas, allowing one run on three hits in six innings. Box score

A four-run third inning was all Licey needed. Angels shortstop Erick Aybar had a two-run triple in the inning and scored on a single by Victor Diaz. Blue Jays right-hander Esmil Rogers got his first win of the season, allowing six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Jonnathan Aristil took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in two innings. Box score

Zulia 5, Aragua 0
Led by Rays lefty Alex Torres, Zulia put together a dominant pitching performance. Torres, coming off a breakthrough year in Tampa Bay's bullpen, struck out eight and allowed only four hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings. Yeiper Castillo and Hassan Pena were perfect in relief, with Castillo striking out two in 2 1/3 innings and Pena punching out one in the ninth. Catcher Sandy Leon and right fielder J.C. Linares led the way offensively for Zulia, as each hit a solo homer. Box score

Caracas 7, La Guaira 2
Rockies lefty Franklin Morales picked up the win for Caracas after allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings. La Guaira finished with only three fewer hits than Caracas, 13-10, but went just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Astros outfielder Jesus Guzman hit a two-run homer in the third inning, and catcher Ramon Cabrera went 3-for-3 with a double. Box score

Lara 3, Margarita 2
Pirates outfielder Andrew Lambo doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored another for Lara, and Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Margarita outhit Lara, 10-7, but went just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position. Lara starter Moises Hernandez pitched only 2 2/3 innings, but former big leaguer Chris Jakubauskas tossed 3 1/3 strong innings and No. 17 White Sox prospect Nestor Molina chipped in two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Caribes 6, Magallanes 5
Caribes scored four runs in the first inning -- three of them on Jose Castillo's home run -- and held on to win. Designated hitter Oscar Salazar went 3-for-4 for Caribes, but right fielder Cory Aldridge led the way with a 4-for-5 day that included a solo homer and three RBIs. Alberto Callaspo and Mario Lisson homered for Magallanes, and former Pirates and Nationals catcher Carlos Maldonado had three hits and an RBI. Box score

Caguas 3, Ponce 1
Two errors by Ponce helped Caguas score two unearned runs and ultimately win the game. Aaron Bates went 2-for-4 and Kristopher Negron went 1-for-5 with an RBI for Caguas. Derek Blacksher got his second win of the season, while Logan Williamson took his third loss. Box score

Santurce 6, Carolina 4
Scoring five runs in the first two innings, Santurce was able to hold on for the win after Carolina made things interesting with two runs in the ninth. Neftali Soto and Luis Rivera each went 2-for-3 for Santurce. Victor Mateo got his third win of the season, while Ty'Relle Harris took his first loss. Box score

Culiacan 7, Mazatlan 5
Due to two big innings, Culiacan was able to get the victory. Felix Perez went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Emmanuel Valdez hit a two-run home run. Marcos Camarena got his first win of the season, while Miguel Aguilar took his first loss. Box score

Guasave 5, Obregon 2 (14 innings)
The turning point in this extra-innings battle came in the top of the 14th on Zelous Wheeler's three-run home run, his 10th of the season. He led the Guasave offense with three hits. Yoslan Herrera got his second win of the season, while Martin Sotelo took his second loss. Box score

Los Mochis 3, Hermosillo 2
Down by two entering the eighth inning, Los Mochis fought back and scored three times in the final two frames for the win. Brian Burgamy hit a two-run home run in the ninth. Andres Avila got his third win of the season, while Jason Urquidez blew his first save of the season. Box score

Mexicali 3, Navojoa 1
A three-run third inning by Mexicali proved to be enough in this tight contest. Salvador Robles took his fifth loss of the season, allowing three runs on seven hits in five innings. Terry Doyle got his fifth win of the season, allowing one run on four hits in six innings. Box score
