Worth noting

• Half of the Nationals' pitchers will throw their first live bullpen session on Tuesday, and the other half will go on Wednesday. The A-group, which threw a bullpen session on Sunday and will go live on Tuesday, includes Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez, Ross Detwiler and Drew Storen. The B-group, which includes Jordan Zimmermann, Dan Haren, Rafael Soriano and Tyler Clippard, will throw its first live BP on Wednesday.

• Manager Davey Johnson said Tyler Moore will stick to either left field, right field or first base this season. Steve Lombardozzi, who played 36 games in left field last year because of injuries to other players, will likely stick to second base this season.

• Frigid temperatures -- relatively speaking, at least -- kept the Nationals' first full workout brief on Sunday, as most players were bundled up in long sleeves, sweatshirts and jackets. Some had winter caps over their hats. The sun was shining, but temperatures hovered in the low 40s and dipped into the 30s with the wind chill.

"Short workout, hour and 45 minutes," Johnson said. "That was by design, for the staff more than the players."
