• Showalter relayed reports from Dr. John Wilckens that Wilson Betemit (knee) is improving. Showalter said there is still swelling in the area, and he hopes Betemit will soon be over the final hurdle and that it will resolve itself.

• Top position player prospect Jonathan Schoop, the O's No. 6 prospect according to MLB.com, is headed to Triple-A Norfolk. He had been rehabbing from a strained lower back in Aberdeen (Class A short season), where he went 4-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBIs in his final game Thursday.
