Worth noting

• Left-hander Matt Reynolds threw a bullpen session before Thursday's game. He's currently on the 60-day disabled list with a partially torn UCL in his left elbow and last appeared in a game June 9.

• Right-hander J.J. Putz (dislocated finger on right hand) played catch again Thursday in Arizona but is not quite ready for a bullpen session. Gibson said he threw with tape on his fingers.

• Infielder Aaron Hill entered Thursday having hit safely in 19 of his last 25 games with an at-bat.

• Left-hander Joe Thatcher has held the Giants scoreless in 12 of 14 games at AT&T Park.
