Yadi, Wong need help to join Cards ASG trio

Catcher, second baseman rank second in latest update; Holliday in tight outfield race

MIAMI -- With another update of the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot, three Cardinals -- Matt Carpenter, Jhonny Peralta and Matt Holiday -- are atop the leaderboards for their respective positions, while Yadier Molina and Kolten Wong need more help to join them.

Wong, hitting .283 with eight home runs, is second among second basemen, trailing Miami's Dee Gordon by approximately 1.2 million votes. Meanwhile, Molina (.295, 24 RBIs) is second in catcher rankings, trailing the Giants' Buster Posey by about 1.2 million votes as well.

St. Louis has the starting left side of the infield for now, as Carpenter (.291, eight home runs) is in first place among third basemen with 5,504,534 votes. At shortstop, Peralta -- batting .311 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs -- ranks first with 5,864,485 votes.

Meanwhile, Holiday, batting .303, would also start if voting ended Tuesday. The left fielder, who has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 9, is third in outfielder rankings with 4,716,941 votes -- approximately 400,000 ahead of San Francisco's Nori Aoki and approximately 108,000 behind Miami's Giancarlo Stanton for second place.

Carpenter leads the Reds' Todd Frazier by about 1.2 million votes, while Peralta has about a 2 million-vote advantage on Giants shortstop Brendan Crawford.
