Puig and Uehara form Final Vote alliance

Dodgers rookie ranked second in NL, Red Sox reliever fourth in AL

A social media alliance has been formed from the East Coast to the West Coast, as the Red Sox and Dodgers have announced a joint campaign to push Boston reliever Koji Uehara and Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig to the All-Star Game in New York.

Both teams encourage fans to vote for Puig (#VotePuig) and Uehara (#HighFiveCiti) in the annual Final Vote competition, which ends Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.

As of the most recent update, Atlanta's Freddie Freeman was ahead of Puig in the National League, while Uehara dropped from third to fourth in the American League voting behind Toronto's Steve Delabar, New York's David Robertson and Detroit's Joaquin Benoit.

Uehara has a 1.88 ERA through 38 1/3 innings pitched out of the Red Sox's bullpen this year, with 53 strikeouts and a 0.81 WHIP. The rookie Puig has burst onto the scene with a .407 average, eight homers and 19 RBIs through 34 games.
