Royals lining up rotation with Ventura, Cueto

CHICAGO -- Royals manager Ned Yost isn't talking about his postseason roster or rotation until after the regular season ends on Sunday.

But Yost has announced his rotation for this weekend and it could be telling: His starter for Saturday is right-hander Yordano Ventura and the starter for Sunday's regular-season finale is right-hander Johnny Cueto.

The first game of the American League Division Series is Thursday, Oct. 8, which means Ventura would be lined up on his normal rest to start that game. Same for Cueto on Friday for the second game of the ALDS.

"I'm not talking about the postseason until after the regular season," Yost reiterated.

But would Yost consider starting someone [such as Cueto] on three days' rest?

"We're considering everything," Yost said.

Cueto has not pitched on three days' rest since being acquired by the Royals prior to the non-waiver Trade Deadline.
