Zimmerman's rehab game rained out

ATLANTA -- Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman will have to wait another day to get on the field, as Class A Potomac's game at Pfitzner Stadium was postponed due to rain on Tuesday.

Zimmerman, who was placed on the DL on April 21 with a strained left hamstring, was scheduled to start, play three or four innings and get a couple of at-bats, according to general manager Mike Rizzo.

Zimmerman may now play only one game or simply join the team in Pittsburgh on Friday. Either way is fine with manager Davey Johnson.

"As far as I'm concerned, he's the type of hitter, he went on the DL last year and I didn't send him out," said Johnson. "He just came back and started playing. So if he just gets one game in, to test it, that's fine with me."

Zimmerman, who was hitting .226 with a homer and 11 RBIs, is due to come off the disabled list on Friday.
