Pirates Acquire Right-Handed Pitcher Hunter Stratton From Atlanta For Catcher Joey Bart

The Pittsburgh Pirates tonight acquired right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton from Atlanta, in exchange for catcher Joey Bart.

The 29-year-old Stratton, who was assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, was originally selected by Pittsburgh out of Walters State (TN) Community College in the 16th round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.

He made his Major League debut with the Pirates on September 5, 2023 vs. Milwaukee. Stratton went 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA (52.1ip/25er) and 44 strikeouts in 47 games with Pittsburgh from 2023-25 before being traded to Atlanta for minor league outfielder Titus Dumitru and cash considerations last year on July 1.

Stratton posted a 2.20 ERA (16.1ip/4er) in 12 appearances with the Braves last season. He made one appearance with Atlanta this year, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning of relief on May 2 at Colorado. Stratton had a 4.38 ERA (24.2ip/12er) and 24 strikeouts in 21 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett this season.
