The Pittsburgh Pirates today agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Brian Goodwin, which includes an invitation to big league camp.
The 30-year-old Goodwin has produced a .250 batting average (252-for-1009), 69 doubles, six triples, 42 home runs and 129 RBI in 357 games during his Major League career with Washington (2016-18), Kansas City (2018), the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2019-20) and Cincinnati (2020).
Goodwin established career highs in nearly every offensive category during the 2019 season while playing with the Angels, including hits (108), batting average (.262), doubles (29), home runs (17) and RBI (47). His 29 doubles in 2019 were the most by an Angels left fielder since Garret Anderson recorded 31 in 2007.
The left-handed hitting Goodwin has made a total of 132 appearances (94 starts) in left field, 126 appearances (109 starts) in center field and 58 appearances (42 starts) in right field during his big league career.
Goodwin was selected by Washington in the first round (34th pick overall) of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft and made his Major League debut with the Nationals during the 2016 season.
