What you need to know about the 2026 World Series

3:40 AM UTC

We are mere days away from the culmination of the 2026 MLB season: The World Series presented by Capital One.

Here is what you need to know to get set for the 122nd edition of the Fall Classic.

How can I watch the 2026 World Series?

All games in the best-of-seven series will be aired on FOX and FOX Deportes. It will also be streamed on FOX One.

Which teams will play in the 2026 World Series?

National League: Brewers

What a ride it’s been for the Brewers. Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games in the regular season, leading the Majors in wins for a second straight season. The Brewers took down the Padres in four games in the NLDS to set up a rematch in the NLCS with the Dodgers. A year after Los Angeles swept on the Brewers en route to a second straight World Series title, Milwaukee flipped the script in 2026, sweeping the Dodgers in four games.

This marks the second time the Brewers will appear in the World Series and the first time since 1982, when they lost to the Cardinals in seven games (this was back when the Brewers played in the American League).

In terms of how they got here, well, the Brewers are a remarkably complete team and have put it together at the optimal time. A stingy offense that didn’t slug much in the regular season is crushing the ball in October and the Brewers have seen epic heroics from the likes of Jackson Chourio, NLCS MVP Jake Bauers and William Contreras. Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson have been a dynamic 1-2 duo in the rotation and Milwaukee’s bullpen has been nothing short of dominant.

American League: Rays

The Rays led the American League with 98 wins in the regular season to secure the top seed. After a first-round bye, the Rays swept the division-rival Yankees in the ALDS. They then took down the Guardians in six games in the ALCS, advancing to the club's first World Series appearance since 2020 and third in franchise history (2008 being the other).

Tampa Bay finds itself in the World Series thanks to a very Rays-y roster and success stories all over the club. Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz form a legitimate 1-2 punch and are a great baseline for a lineup that uses plenty of mixing-and-matching. On the pitching side of things, Drew Rasmussen and ALCS MVP Freddy Peralta have been dynamic, while the bullpen has been more than good enough to close games out.

The Brewers and Rays are two of five teams to never win the World Series, something that will change at the completion of the Fall Classic.

What is the game schedule for this year's World Series?

*if necessary

The Brewers (103-59) will have home-field advantage during the series because they ended the regular season with a better record than the Rays (98-64).

Milwaukee will host Games 1 and 2. The Rays will host Games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary). If there is a Game 6 and/or a Game 7, both of those games will take place in Milwaukee.

What is the head-to-head record between the World Series teams?

The Brewers played one regular-season series against the Rays this year and took two of three games.

Milwaukee faced Tampa Bay in its second series of the regular season (March 30-April 1) and didn't allow more than three runs in any of those games.
