Josh Byrnes, General Manager
Josh Byrnes joined the Rockies as the club's general manager on Dec. 3, 2025. In his role, he's involved in overseeing all aspects of baseball operations while reporting directly to President of Baseball Operations Paul DePodesta.
Byrnes joined the Rockies from the Los Angeles Dodgers where he spent 11 seasons as the club's senior vice president of baseball operations, a role in which he supervised the Dodgers’ scouting and player development while helping the Dodgers to three World Series championships. Byrnes previously served as the general manager for two other NL West clubs during his career, with the San Diego Padres from 2011-14 and the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2005-10.
Prior to his roles as a general manager, Byrnes served as assistant general manager with the Boston Red Sox from 2003-05, and as assistant general manager with the Rockies from 1999-2002. He began his front office career with the Cleveland Indians in 1994, working as an advance scout before being promoted to the director of scouting in 1998 and ultimately joining Dan O’Dowd in Colorado. Byrnes and DePodesta worked alongside each other in Cleveland from 1996-98.
A native of Washington, D.C., Byrnes attended Haverford (PA) College, where he established school records in home runs and RBI.
