Tommy Tanous, Assistant General Manager - Player Development & Scouting
Tommy Tanous joined the Rockies as an assistant general manager on Dec. 10, 2025. In his role, Tanous oversees the organization’s player development and scouting operations.
Tanous joined the Rockies after spending 15 years working in various roles with the New York Mets. Most recently, he served as the vice president of player evaluation & special advisor to the president of baseball operations, a role he began in 2023 after serving as the vice president of amateur and international scouting since December 2016. He began his career with the Mets as a special assignment scout in 2011 and worked as the organization’s scouting director starting in November 2011. Overall, he has overseen the Mets amateur draft since 2012.
Prior to joining the Mets, he spent six years with the Toronto Blue Jays as a national crosschecker (2006-10) and area supervisor (2004-05). He also worked as an area supervisor for the Texas Rangers in 2003, and from 1996-2002 he was an area supervisor for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Tanous played shortstop for both the Community College of Rhode Island and American International College, advancing to the College World Series with both programs. He resides in Barrington, RI with wife Beth and three boys, Samuel, Gabriel and Lucas.
