"The program was so successful last season that we knew we had to do it again," said Ben Aken, Vice President of Community Relations. "These collectible cards provide important information as well as offer a positive way for children and first responders to interact."

For the second season, the organizations have created special Kansas City Royals Topps baseball cards to give to police officers, firefighters and EMS. The front of each card features photos of various Royals players including pitcher Danny Duffy, outfielder Alex Gordon and catcher Salvador Perez, as well as the Royals mascot, Sluggerrr. The back of the card provides stats about the player as well as important safety and energy efficiency tips. Cards are packaged at random and in sets of four. Children are encouraged to ask uniformed officers for cards when they are not in emergency situations.

Police, Fire and EMS Departments can now apply to receive an allotment of Royals cards at www.royals.com/copsaretopps.

The Royals will also highlight the program during Law Enforcement Night on Tuesday, May 29 when the Royals host the Minnesota Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The first 20,000 fans through the gates will receive a Cops are Topps Baseball card set compliments of KCP&L. Fans who are interested in attending the game can purchase tickets at www.royals.com.
