Special delivery: KC to honor Gold Glovers, give Butler ring

Ceremony prior to game vs. A's lines up perfectly for former Royals DH

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals are planning two special ceremonies prior to Friday night's game against the A's at Kauffman Stadium.

First, the Royals will honor the club's 2014 Gold Glove Award winners -- first baseman Eric Hosmer, catcher Salvador Perez and left fielder Alex Gordon. This will be Gordon's fourth Gold Glove Award, while Hosmer and Perez each won for the second time.

And of course, the game will mark the return of former Royals designated hitter Billy Butler, who will be presented with his 2014 American League championship ring prior to the game.

Butler has been looking forward to this weekend for some time -- it's also his birthday on Saturday.

"Ever since I signed with the A's," he said, "I realized on the schedule I would be there on my birthday. It'll be fun. I don't know how the game looks from the third-base side."
