KANSAS CITY -- Royals catcher Salvador Perez joined elite company in franchise history when he belted his 20th and 21st home run[s] of the season on Wednesday against the Blue Jays, becoming only the fifth Royal ever to hit 20 or more home runs in four straight seasons.
In the bottom of the first inning, Perez jumped on a 1-0 fastball from Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada and drilled it into the left-center-field seats. The two-run home run gave the Royals an early 2-0 lead. The Royals eventually lost, 6-5.
Perez added another home run off Estrada in the fourth, also on a four-seam fastball.

"I had a plan from watching video," Perez said. "He had been throwing a lot of fastballs to me in the past, but his best pitch is his changeup. I had been looking for changeups, but tonight, I was looking for fastballs up and I put some good swings on them."
Perez said he was a little surprised he got another high fastball in the fourth.
"I was in between, 50-50 whether it would be a changeup or fastball," Perez said. "Got a fastball."

Perez joins John Mayberry, Steve Balboni, Bo Jackson and Mike Sweeney as the only Royals to hit 20 or more homers four straight years.
"It means a lot to me," Perez said. "It means I'm growing and can help the team."
