MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed infielder/outfielder Luis Arraez on the 10-day Injured List with a right knee strain (retroactive to July 21).

Arraez left Tuesday night’s game in Chicago in the fourth inning after suffering the injury while attempting to catch a fly ball in left field. In 68 games for the Twins this season, he has hit .305 (74-for-243) with nine doubles, four triples, one home run, 23 RBI, 39 runs scored, 24 walks, a .368 on-base percentage and a .754 OPS.

To replace Arraez on the 26-man roster, the Twins have returned outfielder Jake Cave from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 60-day Injured List. In eight games on rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul, Cave went 11-for-30 (.367) with one double, one home run, five RBI, five walks and a .972 OPS. The outfielder was placed on the Injured List on May 15 (retroactive to May 13) with a stress reaction in his lower back and has missed the Twins’ last 64 games. He played in 31 games for the Twins earlier this season, going 14-for-84 with five doubles and one home run.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred outfielder Kyle Garlick to the 60-day Injured List. Garlick has missed the Twins’ last 38 games with a sports hernia.
