Minnesota Twins Homestand Highlights: September 9-15

Twins to host the Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals at Target Field; Theme Nights, Giveaways, Special Events and/or Ticket Deals available for all six games

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight to start a six-game divisional homestand against American League Central opponents the Cleveland Guardians and Kansas City Royals. The Twins open the homestand tonight by welcoming the division-leading Guardians for a three-game series through Sunday, before enjoying an off-day on Monday and hosting Kansas City from Tuesday-Thursday. This marks both teams’ final visit to Minnesota this season.

Tickets Available

Tickets for the upcoming homestand, along with season, group and single-game tickets for the remainder of the Twins’ 2022 regular season home schedule at Target Field, are available for purchase via twinsbaseball.com, by calling 612-33-TWINS or 1-800-33-TWINS, or in-person at the Target Field Ticket Office. “Ballpark Access” tickets are available for as low as $9.

Twins’ AR Experience (All 6 games)

The Twins and Minneapolis-based ARound, a shared augmented reality platform, have partnered to bring the first-of-its-kind, shared AR experience to Target Field. Using the ARound app (available via iOS or Android here), fans can point their smartphone at the field to open up a universe of multi-user AR games such as Batter Up, Blockbuster and Fishing Frenzy – all designed to be played by interfacing with the physical ballpark and fellow fans in real time.

Pregame Happy Hour (Tonight, Friday, September 9 and tomorrow, Saturday, September 10)

From the time gates open (5:00 p.m. tonight and 4:00 p.m. tomorrow) through first pitch (7:10 p.m. tonight and 6:15 p.m. tomorrow), fans can grab $5 draft beers, $2 pops and free popcorn throughout the entire ballpark, while hanging out with T.C. and a live DJ at Gate 34 during a special Twins Happy Hour!

Flu Shots in partnership with CUB Pharmacy (Tonight, Friday, September 9 and tomorrow, Saturday, September 10)

The Twins, in partnership with CUB Pharmacy, will provide fans attending this weekend’s series vs. Kansas City (September 9-10) the opportunity to receive a flu shot while at Target Field, beginning when gates open and available through the seventh inning.

  • Twins Flannel Night: No fall wardrobe is complete without a flannel featuring the logo of your favorite baseball team!   • Gio Urshela Community Humanitarian Award Presentation: In recognition of his work with the Boys & Girls Club throughout his career, Chapters Community Support Services and So Connected will present Gio Urshela with their second annual Unity in the Community Humanitarian Leadership Award prior to Friday’s game. Since being traded from the New York Yankees to the Twins in March, Urshela has maintained community connections with the New York City Public School System while forging new ones with the Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities, Pine Tar Academy, Evolve Foster Care/Family Services and other groups in and around Minnesota.

  • Dave Ryan Ceremonial First Pitch: Local radio legend Dave Ryan, who for nearly three decades has hosted the Dave Ryan in the Morning show on KDWB, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. 
  • MVP at the Summit Brewing Pub: Twins Hall of Famer, club special assistant, Bally Sports North broadcaster and 2006 American League Most Valuable Player Justin Morneau will be pouring beers for the first three innings at the Summit Brewing Pub.

Saturday, September 10 vs. Cleveland Guardians presented by US Bank (6:15 ­­p.m.; gates open at 4:00 p.m.)

  • FOX Saturday Baseball: Saturday’s middle game between the Twins and Guardians will be a nationally-televised game as part of the FOX Saturday Baseball package.
  • T.C. Build-A-Bear Gate Giveaway: The first 5,000 children ages 12-and-under will receive this year’s rendition of the T.C. Build-A-Bear.
  • Bob Allison Ataxia Research Center Day: In honor of Twins Hall of Famer Bob Allison, who passed away from ataxia in 1995, the Twins will host members of Allison family and representatives from the Bob Allison Ataxia Research Center at the University of Minnesota, which Bob helped co-found in 1990. The Twins and the BAARC join forces each year to put on the Diamond Awards, one of the organization’s largest fundraisers of the year; the next rendition is scheduled for January 26, 2023. RJ Allison-Rodriguez, Bob’s grandson, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
  • Town Ball Night: The Twins will celebrate and honor four state champions from the 2022 Minnesota Baseball Association (MBA) State Amateur Baseball Tournament – the St. Louis Park Pirates (Class A), the Rochester Royals (Class B), the Nisswa Lightning (Class C) and the East Metro Mammoth (35+).
  • LEED Platinum Ceremony: Pregame ceremonies involving representatives of the Twins, the U.S. Green Building Council and the Sustainable Investment Group will recognize Target Field becoming the first Major League Baseball venue to earn LEED Platinum certification via the new LEED v4.1 rating system, along with the Twins’ status as the first and only MLB franchise to receive five separate LEED certifications.

  • 9/11 Remembrance and 19th Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day presented by Thomson Reuters: Throughout Sunday’s game, the Twins and Guardians will join Major League Baseball and all 30 Clubs to remember and pay tribute to those we lost on September 11, 2001. The Twins will also honor veterans and active servicemembers from all five branches of the military on the 19th annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day presented by Thomson Reuters, while giving special thanks to the employers of military families – the civilian organizations and companies that play a critical role in the defense of our nation by providing exceptional support before, during and after deployment for the large number of citizen service members active today in the Minnesota National Guard and Reserves.

  • T-Shirt Tuesday Artist Series – Jimmy Longoria: The Twins’ T-Shirt Tuesday Artist Series wraps up on September 15 vs. Kansas City, as the first 5,000 fans will receive Jimmy Longoria’s take on the club’s primary logo. Jimmy is the artist behind many Minneapolis murals that showcase his unique style of bold colors, vivid contrast and hundreds of layered brush strokes. He is widely celebrated through numerous awards and distinctions for his fine art and his commitment to activists, community art, youth mentorship and his Chicano/Hispanic heritage. Outside the studio, he mentors the next generation in the mural process in deterring gang graffiti via his organization, Mentoring Peace Through Art.

Wednesday, September 14 vs. Kansas City Royals presented by Rasmussen University (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Childhood Cancer Awareness: The Twins will assist in Major League Baseball’s league-wide effort to raising awareness of childhood cancer, while advocating for and supporting research efforts by recognizing the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF), a Minnesota-based national nonprofit that has contributed $170 million to research, education, awareness and quality-of-life programs for childhood cancer families; the Twins will also celebrate a special starting lineup featuring children who have received support from CCRF. Additionally, and in partnership with the Correa Family Foundation, the Twins will honor a child who is currently receiving treatment at Children’s Minnesota with an on-field recognition and ceremonial first pitch that evening.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: Army Lieutenant General David G. Bassett will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to Wednesday’s game. Lieutenant General Bassett is the director of the Defense Contract Management Agency headquartered at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he leads a Department of Defense agency consisting of more than 12,000 civilians and military personnel.

Thursday, September 15 vs. Kansas City Royals (6:40 p.m.; gates open at 5:30 p.m.)

  • Roberto Clemente Day: Alongside Major League Baseball and the other 29 clubs, the Twins will recognize the 21st annual Roberto Clemente Day on Thursday, September 15 vs. Kansas City. The day was established by Major League Baseball to honor Clemente’s legacy as a humanitarian and to formally acknowledge club nominees of the Roberto Clemente Award. As part of the league-wide celebration, the Roberto Clemente Day logo will appear on the bases and official dugout lineup cards and a special tribute video will be played in ballparks. Additionally, a customized tribute video to both Roberto and his wife Vera – Momentito (in English and Spanish) – will be shown in all MLB ballparks on Roberto Clemente Day as well as on MLB Network, MLB.com, club sites and MLB social media platforms.
  • Byron Buxton Pregame Recognition: Centerfielder Byron Buxton is the Twins’ nominee for the 2022 Roberto Clemente Award, in celebration of both his superb performances on the field and his dedication to the Twins Territory community off the field. He will be recognized pregame.
  • Ceremonial First Pitch: University of Minnesota neurologist Dr. Miguel Fiol will throw out a ceremonial first pitch. The Puerto Rico native follows the example of Roberto Clemente both through his professional excellence and his work regarding social and cultural issues within the Latinx community, especially that of his home island. Over the last 35 years, Dr. Fiol has created a number of local civic organizations to promote Latino unity, while also going on medical missions to assist with hurricane and earthquake relief efforts in various Latino countries, including to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month Pregame Performances: Hispanic Heritage Month officially begins on September 15 and runs through October 15. The Twins will mark the occasion with a pair of on-field pregame performances.
  • Los Pleneros: Founded on 2020 by Angel Maldonado, Los Pleneros is a four-piece ensemble band dedicated to resurrecting and celebrating the bomba and plena musical stylings of Puerto Rico, by paying tribute to the form’s African, Spanish, Arabic and Caribbean-fused roots. The group’s music consists of multi-part vocal harmonies backed by the rhythms of handheld plena drums and barrel-shaped bomba drums.
  • Maria Isa Pérez-Hedges: Proud Boricua singer, songwriter, actress, rapper, activist, youth worker and international recording artist Maria Isa Pérez-Hedges brings a unique fusion of her Puerto Rican heritage and her upbringing in St. Paul’s West Side barrio. She has served as CEO for the independent record label SotaRico since 2009 and will showcase her Borinqueña spirit through a performance, accompanied by a band.
