Twins place John Gant on 10-day injured list

Charlie Barnes recalled from Triple-A St. Paul

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher John Gant on the 10-day Injured List with a right mild groin strain.

Gant made the start last night in Kansas City, allowing six runs on eight hits in 4.0 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts. He has appeared in 39 games (21 starts) between Minnesota and St. Louis this season, going 5-11 with a 4.09 ERA (110.0 IP, 50 ER), 71 walks and 92 strikeouts.

To make replace Gant on the 28-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Charlie Barnes from Triple-A St. Paul. Barnes, who was optioned after his start on Tuesday, has appeared in eight games (7 starts) for the Twins this season, going 0-3 with a 5.86 ERA (35.1 IP, 23 ER), 15 walks and 17 strikeouts over five stints with Minnesota in 2021.
