Baseball is a family affair for Angels' Cron

C.J. Cron, 1B, Angels
Hometown: Fullerton, Calif.

Baseball is just in Cron's blood. The power-hitting rookie first baseman is the son of Chris Cron, who played in 1,250 Minor League games and 12 Major League games before becoming a hitting coach and Minor League manager. Dad recently accepted a position as the D-backs' Minor League hitting coordinator. Cron's brother, Kevin, played college ball at Texas Christian University and was drafted in the 14th round this year by the D-backs.

The Cron's baseball background even forced the family to move from Fullerton, Calif., to the Phoenix area for dad's job. C.J. began to gain notice from Major League scouts during his time at Mountain Pointe High School, ultimately being drafted in the 44th round out of high school. But Cron turned down a pro contract and played college baseball at the University of Utah. He was the Angels' first-round pick three years later.
