Ohtani is an RHP, a DH ... and an MD?

April 12th, 2022

is a man of many talents. He can hit, pitch and run, but his newest talent may be his most impressive yet: performing CPR on an inanimate object.

In the midst of a mini-slump that’s seen him swat just one extra-base hit to start the year, Ohtani took his bat in the dugout in the sixth inning and started to pump its chest -- err, barrel -- in order to try to revive the seemingly dead wood.

Luckily for Ohtani, he didn’t really need the bat on Monday, as teammates Brandon Marsh and Jo Adell provided the thump for the Angels, driving in all the Angels runs in a 6-2 win over the Marlins.

Ohtani is hitting .143 with five strikeouts at the dish across five games, but maybe he just needed to give his bat some new life in order to turn things around. If the twig really is dead and Shohei needs a lively one, it will join Carlos Beltrán's glove in the big locker room in the sky.
