Getting Started

Accessing the MLB Ballpark App

The MLB Ballpark app requires a MLB.com or a Club.com (ex. Redsox.com) account. If you do not have an existing account, a new account can be created during initial setup.

To take advantage of the MLB Ballpark app's many features (including check in, in-game features, exclusive offers and notifications), please grant permission to allow access to location-based services and notifications when prompted. Also, please ensure Bluetooth, Location and Background App Refresh services are enabled at the device-level in order for the MLB Ballpark app to make use of iBeacon technology.

Your location information won't be shared without your permission.

Club Loyalty Programs

If you are a member of a participating club's loyalty program, you can associate that program with the MLB Ballpark app by navigating to the team page, tapping on the program tab in the upper right of a team page and tapping on "Get Started." If you are signed in with the MLB.com/Club.com account associated with the loyalty program, you will be taken to the program page where you can view your account information, tickets, reward points and stored value (eCash). If linking is unsuccessful, you will be provided with club-specific contact information for assistance. For inquiries about club loyalty program usage, your account, tickets, reward points or stored value (eCash), please review the specific contact information for the club.

MLB Ballpark Digital Ticketing

Select Clubs will offer additional digital ticketing features which will allow you to purchase new tickets, present existing tickets at the ballpark for entry and forward ticket inventory to and from individuals directly from the MLB Ballpark application. For Clubs that do not support the additional features, the ability to view and present tickets for entry will remain available through the "My Tickets Mobile" portal accessed through the MLB Ballpark app.

For additional information on how to setup and use the new MLB Ballpark digital ticketing features, please see the "MLB Ballpark Digital Ticketing" section below. If you have any questions about MLB Ballpark digital ticketing, please review the Club-specific "FAQ" located at the bottom of the "Ticket Dashboard" from the team's "Tickets" tab. This FAQ will explain the program as well as provide Club-specific support information.

For "My Tickets Mobile" ticketing account, inventory and support inquiries, please contact the Club Box Office for immediate assistance.

Checking Into Events (Actual vs. Virtual)

The MLB Ballpark app supports two different types of Check Ins. An "actual" Check In will occur if you're currently attending an event and are physically at the ballpark. Actual Check Ins can only be added within 4hrs of game start. This Check In will allow you to unlock ballpark promotions and offers. If your device supports Bluetooth LE, the Bluetooth radio is enabled and Auto-Checkin is enabled, the MLB Ballpark app will attempt to automatically check you into games you attend without user intervention. A "virtual" Check In does not unlock any promotions or offers, but allows you to document past events you've attended at the ballpark in your journal at any time.

Actual Event Check In (physically at the ballpark)

  1. To manually complete an actual Check In, from the Ballpark section, tap on the "Check In" button. The earliest a Check In can be completed is 4hrs prior to the scheduled start time, and you must be near or in the stadium. If you are not near or in the stadium, a map will appear showing your approximate location. If you believe an error has occurred, you can tap on the "Refresh" button to refresh the information in an attempt to better locate you. Please ensure the location services on your device are enabled.
  2. If you've passed the location verification, you will be able to enter information such as seating, a message to share with social media (if you've enabled Facebook/Foursquare/Twitter), the ability to add a photo to your Check In, and finally, tap "Check In" to complete the process.
  3. After successfully checking in, you will have the ability to jump to your Journal section or view offers you may have unlocked.

Virtual Event Check In (not physically at the ballpark)

You can add a virtual Check In from the Journal section at any time for any Regular or Postseason game dating back to 1903. Tap on the "Add Game" button and fill in the required search criteria (Home Team/Year) and any additional fields to narrow your search. You will then be presented with a list of games. Check the box next to a game you want to add to your history. You will then have the option to go back to the list and add another game or complete the process. Existing virtual check ins can also be removed from your history by tapping on the event from your history and then tapping the "Remove" button in the upper right.

MLB Ballpark Digital Ticketing

Select Clubs will offer additional digital ticketing features which will allow you to purchase new tickets, present existing tickets at the ballpark for entry and forward ticket inventory to and from individuals directly from the MLB Ballpark application. If you have any questions about MLB Ballpark digital ticketing, please review the Club-specific "FAQ" located at the bottom of the "Ticket Dashboard" from the team's "Tickets" tab. This FAQ will explain the program as well as provide Club-specific support information.

  2. Select the game to which you want to buy tickets.
  3. Select your seats

Linking and accessing a Ticketing Account

Scanning a ticket at the Ballpark

Tapping on a ticket from your inventory will display a "Scan View" for display at the ballpark. This view will display your account name, number, event and seating information and a timestamp to verify ticket validity.

Forwarding a Ticket

To forward a ticket, tap on the game for which you have ticket(s) for. You may need to tap on "All Home Games" to see additional games that are not displayed. Please be advised that not all tickets are eligible for forwarding; if not eligible, the option to forward the ticket will not be available.

Note: Ticket forwarding can also be initiated by tapping on the "action" icon from the ticket scan view. The ticket can be forwarded via e-mail [Forward Ticket] or via link [Forward via Link]. When Forwarding via Link, please be advised that whomever has access to the URL will be able to receive the ticket. Take care sharing this on a social network or other public forum.

When viewing your list of tickets for a game, tap on "See All" on the right.

    3. Tap on "Send" in the upper right to complete the process

The sender can have a message and unique URL generated for them to share as they see fit. Whomever has access to the URL will be able to receive the ticket. Take care sharing this on a social network or other public forum.

The sender should then publish/share that link as desired

The ticket will be moved into a "Pending" state until the ticket is accepted. The sender can revoke the forward until it is forwarded again or scanned for entry.

Receiving a Ticket

  1. Fans who receive ticket invitations can claim the ticket and load it into the MLB Ballpark app.
  2. Recipient will be notified directly by email or receive a link where they can claim tickets from the sender
  3. Recipient will arrive at webpage to accept ticket.
    1. This page will bring fans who have already downloaded the app directly in so they can retrieve their tickets.
    2. If the user does not already have the MLB Ballpark app and is using an iOS or Android device, they will be directed to download the app.
    3. If they are on a different platform (e.g. Blackberry, Windows, PC) then they can accept or reject the ticket via a web flow. Those fans can then access the ticket(s) via the Club Ticket Provider Portal.
  4. The sender and recipient will be notified by email when the transaction is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am unable to locate the "Tickets" or "Club Loyalty" (San Diego Padres "Compadres" or Boston Red Sox "Rewards") tabs in MLB Ballpark. I only see a "Ballpark" tab at the top of the team page.

When viewing a team page in MLB Ballpark, if you only see a "Ballpark" tab and do not see a "Tickets" or "Club Loyalty" (for participating clubs) tab as well, please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to your device home screen.
  2. Double tap on the home button to open the application tray.
  3. Swipe the application you want to close upwards. It is recommended to close all applications.
  4. Tap the home button or on the screen to close the application tray.
  5. Re-launch MLB Ballpark. You should then see a "Ballpark" and "Tickets" tab for all teams and a "Club Loyalty" tab for the San Diego Padres [Compadres] and Boston Red Sox [Rewards].

If you still do not see these additional tab(s) after completing the recommended steps, please contact Customer Service for further assistance. If you need immediate assistance with entry to a game, please contact the Box Office directly.

What is iBeacon technology?

iBeacon technology creates small areas of detection in and around supported MLB ballparks. When you enter one of these zones with the iBeacon-enabled MLB Ballpark app on your iPhone or iPod touch device that supports Bluetooth 4.0 technology, the app can instantly grant access to and notify you of exclusive in-game features and offers, and record your visit to your private Journal.

This feature requires Bluetooth, Location and Background App Refresh services to be enabled. You can disable this feature at any time in the settings menu.

  • Check in and offers access using iBeacon technology is only available on iPhone® or iPod® touch devices that support Bluetooth 4.0 technology
  • iPhone 4s or later
  • iPod touch (5th generation) or later

You can control which apps and system services access Location Services data: Tap Settings > Privacy > Location Services from your Device home screen. You can control which apps and system services access Background App Refresh: Tap Settings > General > Background App Refresh from your Device home screen.

The MLB Ballpark app is not checking me into games at participating stadiums using iBeacon technology and I am using a device that supports iOS 7 and Bluetooth LE.

If the MLB Ballpark app is not checking you into games at stadiums using iBeacon technology, please confirm the following:

  • The MLB Ballpark app has been initially setup and is running in the background on your device (recommended for best performance)
  • Navigate to your device Settings>Privacy>Location Services section and ensure they are enabled globally and MLB Ballpark app access is permitted.
  • Navigate to your device Settings>Bluetooth section and ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Navigate to the MLB Ballpark app Settings section and ensure the "Auto Check-In" feature is enabled.
  • Navigate to your device Settings>General>Background App Refresh section and it is enabled globally and MLB Ballpark app access is permitted.

Device detection and push notifications generated from a check-in may take anywhere from 2 seconds to 2 minutes for delivery.

The MLB Ballpark app cannot locate me when completing an actual check in.

Please ensure the location services on your device are enabled.

How do I know whether I completed an actual or a virtual Check In for an event?

When reviewing your history under the Journal section, actual Check In events will have a "compass" icon in the lower right.

Can I remove check ins?

Only virtual check ins can be removed from the MLB Ballpark app. This is completed by opening the event and then tapping the "Remove" button in the upper right.

Why is the MLB Ballpark app very slow when accessing information or trying to upload photos?

The MLB Ballpark app relies heavily on a strong network connection. This unfortunately may be difficult to achieve using a cellular or WiFi connection at the ballpark due to the volume of mobile devices requesting connections. A weak network connection may impede access to information as well as photo uploads. We are working to improve network connectivity at all of our ballparks.

What should I do if I am unable to present my tickets using MLB Ballpark digital ticketing or the "My Tickets Mobile" portal in the MLB Ballpark app?

If you are unable to access purchased tickets via MLB Ballpark digital ticketing or the "My Tickets Mobile" portal in the MLB Ballpark app, please contact the Box Office for immediate assistance. If you do not remember your MLB.com/Club.com account password, you can request a new password for your MLB.com/Club.com account by navigating to the "Settings>MLB.com Account" section of the MLB Ballpark app and tapping on "Forgot password."
