August 22nd, 2018

The Oakland A's will open the 2019 season on an international stage when they play host to the Seattle Mariners at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, March 20-21. The club will return home to host Opening Day at the Oakland Coliseum on Thursday, March 28, versus the Los Angeles Angels.
The Opening Day matinee will mark just the third time in the last 42 years, and the second year in a row, the A's will play a day game for their home opener. The four-game matchup with the Angels begins the club's 80-game home slate, which includes an exhibition game versus the San Francisco Giants on March 24, plus eight home games versus the National League Central's Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals. The team will also play the NL Central Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates on the road.
The A's and Giants will square off in their annual Battle of the Bay series, with the A's traveling across the Bay on Aug. 13-14, and hosting the Giants on Aug. 24-25.
The A's will be at home for three of the summer's most popular holidays - Memorial Day, Father's Day, and Independence Day. The team will host seven postgame fireworks shows, including Friday, May 10; Friday, June 14; Wednesday, July 3; Saturday, July 27; Saturday, Aug. 17; Saturday, Sept. 7; and Saturday, Sept. 21. The complete 2019 promotional calendar will be announced in early 2019.
The 2019 Japan Opening Series will represent the fifth time MLB has opened its season in Tokyo. The last Opening Series in Tokyo took place in 2012, when the A's and Mariners split two games. This marks the third time the A's have participated in the Japan Opening Series, as the team played host to and split two games with the Boston Red Sox in 2008.
