Braves-White Sox game postponed; makeup on June 27

April 3rd, 2024

CHICAGO -- The Wednesday afternoon game between the White Sox and Braves at Guaranteed Rate Field was postponed due to rain, snow and a forecast of inclement weather. The inclement weather began overnight in Chicago and looked to be extending late into the evening.

All three days of this series were hit by bad weather. But the two teams were able to get in the first two contests.

Wednesday’s postponement will be made up on Thursday, June 27 at 3:10 p.m. CT. That contest comes in between three-game home sets against the Dodgers and Rockies for the White Sox, who will end up playing 13 straight games from June 18-30 with 10 at home. The Braves’ six-game road trip at the Yankees and Cardinals extends to seven with their return trip to Chicago.

Fans with tickets, parking and Huntington Bank Stadium Club passes to Wednesday’s contest can attend the makeup game on June 27. Parking lot and gate information will be shared at a later date.

The Braves entered the day looking for their second straight series win of the year after taking two of three from the Phillies to open the season. Atlanta wound up splitting the two games with the White Sox following a 9-0 victory in Game 1 and a 3-2 defeat in Game 2.

Now, the Braves will head back to Atlanta for their home opener to play three games against the Diamondbacks starting on Friday. Spencer Strider, who was scheduled to start Wednesday’s finale in Chicago, will now start the home opener, with Max Fried following on Saturday and Chris Sale to close out the series on Sunday.

Manager Pedro Grifol’s White Sox crew ended a four-game losing streak to start the season on Tuesday night and will begin the road portion of their 2024 season with four at Kauffman Stadium this weekend starting Thursday evening. Reliever Dominic Leone was scheduled to be the opener Wednesday, so the team will stay on turn in the rotation, with Michael Soroka, Erick Fedde, Chris Flexen and Garrett Crochet facing the Royals and a fifth starter not needed until Monday in Cleveland.
